Plant-based Sources of Omega 3

Plant-based Sources of Omega 3

Omega 3 fatty acids play an important role in maintaining optimal health. They are good for the cardiovascular system, brain function, hormonal balance, the joints, skin, hair and nail health, and they also assist in the reduction of inflammation throughout the body.

Essential fatty acids, including omega 3, are not manufactured by the body therefore it is highly important to eat food sources of omega 3, or use a good form of omega 3 supplementation, in order to meet your body's needs for maintaining optimal well-being.

Fish oils are well known as a source of omega 3 fatty acids, but if you are vegetarian or vegan, or just don't like fish, it is good to include some plant sources of omega 3 into your diet on a regular basis.

Some good plant-based sources of omega 3 include: flax seeds or flax seed oil, chia seeds, hemp hearts, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, and avocado.
